My last 2019 wedding at Pentney Abbey was the beautiful starry day of Ellie and Jon. As you know I love weddings in September and the weather didn't disappoint - I've been so lucky this year - as you'll see through the images, the light and warmth was wonderful giving them the day they dreamed of.
I started in the prep suite of Pentney's farmhouse with Love Moi's Emily on make up and was thrilled to be allowed to take Ellie's incredible Charlotte Balbier gown outside to the Abbey. I've always wanted to place a dress on the massive gate. Ellie's morning was relaxed giving her plenty of time to enjoy the moment. Meanwhile I sent my associate Mark over to their home for groom prep with Jon and his best men Bobby & Martin equally enjoying the moment.
Ellie and Jon had chosen an astronomy theme (one of their passions) with a map of the night sky and constellations as the basis, co-ordinated with florals in blues, greens and touches of reds and whites for the stars. The venue is so beautiful you really don't have to go crazy and they got the balance just right.
Their guests arrived and enjoyed the sunshine before heading up to the Abbey's iconic ceremony room. Meanwhile Ellie and her bridal party were tackling the amazing spiral staircase and I'm very grateful she was willing to pause for a portrait. Their ceremony was emotional and the light through the window was exquisite. Afterwards as everyone headed down to get armed with confetti, Ellie and Jon paused for a minute or two in the side room allowing me to capture a quick image with the emotion of the realisation that they're now husband and wife.
The barn looked stunning, the food tasted wonderful and the speeches were great fun, the light was perfect so we took them off for a little while chasing patches of gold ending with a beautiful sunset. I was tasked with creating portraits that wouldn't look out of place on a gallery wall and was happy to oblige. Everyone was mingling in and around the barn, enjoying the s'mores and waiting for their first dance and fantastic tunes by the Jukebox Jets. It really was the most perfect of days and one I will remember with great fondness.
Huge thanks, as ever, to Mark Hewlett for his fantastic visual storytelling from groom prep to full dance floor, to Jess for running the day so smoothly and to their guests for making us so welcome.
